Can a family member, who is planning to take over a family enterprise, participate in the programme as a new entrepreneur?

Yes, a family member, who has taken over the family business or who is planning to do so, may participate in the programme. While the business may have existed for more than 3 years, the new entrepreneur wasn’t heading the family business per se, and is thus eligible for the programme as long as he/she meets the other eligibility criteria set by the programme. This falls in line with Small Business Act for Europe, who consider Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs a key opportunity “to create an environment within which entrepreneurs and family businesses can thrive and entrepreneurship is rewarded”.
